Virtual Patient Participation Group

Welcome

Seeking the views of our patients

We would like to hear your views on how we can improve services at The Church Lane Practice. Traditionally practices have set up patient participation groups through volunteers and regular meetings. In recognition of the fact that people lead busy lives, we have decided to set up a virtual group that communicates via email. We will ask the members of this group some questions from time to time. We will keep our surveys succinct so it shouldn’t take up too much of your time. The Church Lane Patient Participation Group (PPG) will serve two functions:

  1. To prioritise the areas of our service on which we will seek patient views.
  2. To be involved in discussions that will result in beneficial changes.

We aim to gather approximately a hundred patients from as broad a spectrum as possible: young, workers, retirees, people with long term conditions and people from non-British ethnic groups. It is important that the PPG reflects the practice population if it is to function as a representative group. We have therefore started the process by actively inviting patients to join the PPG who we feel reflect the practice population. Thereafter we hope to recruit members on a voluntary basis; if you would like to participate in this group in the future please indicate this on the contact form.

The PPG may not be for you. We still want to hear your views. We will be running an annual survey on some areas of the service that we provide at Church Lane. If you are happy to fill this in online please include your email address on the contact form. The contact details you provide will only be used for communication with the PPG in order to elicit your views on the Church Lane Practice, and will be kept safely.

We look forward to working with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are you asking people for their contact details?
  • We would like to be able to contact people occasionally to ask them questions about the surgery and how well we are doing to identify areas for improvement.
Will my doctor see this information?
  • This information is purely to contact patients to ask them questions about the surgery, how well we are doing and to ensure changes that are being made are patient focussed. If your doctor is responsible for making some of the changes in the surgery they might see general feedback from patients.
Will the questions you ask me be medical or personal?
  • We will only ask general questions about the practice, such as short questionnaires.
Who else will be able to access my contact details?
  • Your contact details will be kept safely and securely and will only be used for this purpose and will not be shared with anyone else.
How often will you contact me?
  • Not very often…maybe every three to four months.
What is a patient group/patient participation group?
  • This is a group of volunteer patients who are involved in making sure the surgery provides the services its patients need.
Do I have to leave my contact details?
  • No, but if you change your mind, please let us know.
What if I no longer wish to be on the contact list or I leave the surgery?
  • We will ask you to let us know by email if you do not wish to receive further messages.
